3rd International Conference on Cultural Policy Research

August 25-28, 2004
HEC Montréal, Montreal, Canada

The Third International Conference on Cultural Policy Research is organized by François Colbert and the Carmelle and Rémi Marcoux Chair in Arts Management, HEC Montréal, in cooperation with the International Journal of Cultural Policy

ICCPR'04 aims to provide an outlet for the interdisciplinary and international exploration of the concept, role and impact of cultural policies. It is intended to reflect a broad perspective on cultural policy, encompassing culture both as a "way of life" and in the narrower sense of the arts and cultural industries. The conference is concerned with institutional policies as well as with the wider discourses relating to the general conditions of culture.

The First International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR 1999) was held in Bergen, Norway, on November 10-12, 1999. About 140 researchers from 17 countries attended the conference, at which 60 papers were presented. A selection of papers was subsequently published in the International Journal of Cultural Policy (Vol. 7, no. 1 and Vol. 7, no. 2).

The Second International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR 2002) was held in Wellington, New Zealand, on January 23-26, 2002. Over 100 papers were presented at the conference, which was attended by 192 researchers. A selection of papers was also subsequently published in the International Journal of Cultural Policy (Vol. 8, no. 2 and Vol. 9, no. 1).
