The Centre for Research on e-finance is a multidisciplinary and multiuniversity Research Centre dedicated to the investigation of issues raised by the recent development of e-finance. The Centre brings together some thirty-six researchers from nine universities, analyzing concerns about the financial aspects of the new economy. The members of the team are undertaking detailed studies on the economic, technological, and financial effects of the new economy. They analyze the impact of e-finance on the effectiveness of financial markets in accounting for private and social risks. They also examine the consequences of risk management in financial institutions on employment and financial-innovation and study the effects of e-finance on their technological and security needs. The team is also involved in the education of efficient managers, trained to meet the growing challenges of the new economy and of e-finance. The research projects of the Centre for Research on e-finance are funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Initiative on the new Economy (INE) Program. This program is part of the Innovation Strategy, designed to make Canada one of the five world leaders in research. Note that the Centre also received financial support, at the height of $1 M from other partners: the National Bank of Canada, the CIBC, the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Groupe CGI and the Institut de finance mathématique de Montréal. |
