THE VIRTUAL WORLD OF INSURANCE
AND RISK MANAGEMENT

We have visited the Web site of the Autorité des marchés financiers

http://www.lautorite.qc.ca

The Autorité des marchés financiers was created according to the Act respect-ing the Agence nationale d’encadrement du secteur financier, adopted in December 2002 by the National Assembly of Québec. Answering to the Minister of Finance, the Autorité is funded by the various stakeholders of the financial industry.

Set up on February 1, 2004, the Autorité is the regulatory body that administers the regulatory framework surrounding Québec’s financial sector. To this end, it has combined the operations and personnel of the following five organizations: the Bureau des services financiers, the Commission des valeurs mobilières du Québec, the Fonds d’indemnisation des services financiers, the Inspecteur général des institutions financières (financial institutions sector only), and the Régie de l’assurance dépôts du Québec.

The Autorité is intended to be a single window for consumer information and complaint processing.

The website includes 6 main sections:

•   About us (Mission, Industry Sectors, History, Organizational Chart, Jobs Opportunities, To Reach Us)

•   Regulation (Securities, Distribution of Financial Products and Services, Financial Institutions, Compensation)

•   Bulletins and Publications (Bulletin of the Autorité, Securities, Dis-tribution of Financial Products and Services, Financial Institutions)

•   Media Centre (Press Releases, News, Presentations and Speeches, About us, Role of BDRVM Hearings)

•   Industry Services (Transition Notices and Procedures, Forms, Your Obligations Respecting Complaint Processing, Industry Sector)
