The Société d’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) is a legal person established in the public interest, operating under the authority of Minister of Transport. Having the rights and privileges of an agent of the government, the SAAQ is managed by a board of directors of 12 members. The chairman is also the corporation’s Chief Officer.

All Quebecers and visitors (to the extent the latter are not at fault in an accident) enjoy this exceptional coverage: drivers, passengers, pedestrians, cyclists and all motorcyclists.

The SAAQ offers an integrated management model, the purpose of which is to protect individuals. This model applies to three areas: prevention, control and repair.

The SAAQ website contains a myriad of information: driver’s licence, vehicle registration, prevention, heavy vehicle, accident’s victims. We also find the Organization chart, the Service Statement, the commitment to Internet Confidentiality and Protection of Personal Information, the Complaint Office, the Documents and publications and the E-forms.

We discover news in the What’s new section the SAAQ will deliver, from January 1, 2006, a commemorative veteran registration plate. The SAAQ contributed in sponsoring production of the guide “Driving in Quebec”. Among other publications: Obligations of heavy vehicles drivers, School Bus Transportation, Vehicle used for Snow Removal and Demerit Points. There is also a Check your driving knowledge section.
