THE VIRTUAL WORLD OF INSURANCE
AND RISK MANAGEMENT |
We have visited the Web site of the INSURANCE INSTITUTE OF CANADA The Insurance Institute is the professional education arm of the general insurance industry in Canada. It is a not-for-profit association of 33,000 individual members employed in the general insurance business with insurance and reinsurance companies, brokerage, adjusting firms and others. The web site describes who is the Institute, its activities, the education programs, the local institutes and chapters and the CIP Society. The CIP Society is the division of the Insurance Institute of Canada that focuses on the various needs of Institute graduates. Membership in the CIP Society is restricted to Institute graduates. You have access to basic information about the CIP Society and its services. However, all the benefits and services on the site are restricted to members and protected by a multi-level security system. This web site also has a section titled Insurance Careers. Across Canada, more than 200 general insurance companies, 7,500 brokerage firms and 1,500 independent adjusting companies employ a total of 120,000 people. The internet surfer will find in these pages accurate information on different types of carreers listed therein to get more information about what it takes to work in the general insurance industry. There are also a number of post-secondary institutions where full-time insurance programs are flourishing. |
